A perennial plant of the Asteraceae family. It grows in slightly moist forests in mountainous areas from Hokkaido to Kyushu, often in colonies. It has densely hairy basal leaves and upright stems that reach a height of 40-100 cm. The stem leaves are alternate and deeply pinnately lobed. In June and July, it produces a corymb at the top of the stem, with yellow flower heads about 1 cm in diameter. The flowers are enclosed in a tubular involucre, and there are about 10 ray flowers that are linear and about 1 mm wide. キク科の多年草。北海道から九州にかけて各地の山地のやや湿った林内に生え,しばしば群生する。密に白毛のある根生葉があり,茎は直立して高さ 40~100cmとなる。茎葉は互生し深く羽状に裂ける。6~7月,茎頂に散房花序をなして径 1cmほどの黄色の頭状花をつける。筒形の総包に包まれ,舌状花は 10個ほどで幅 1mmほどの線形である。
