A heroic epic poem by Greek poet Apollonius of Rhodes. In four volumes, it tells the story of 50 warriors led by Jason, a hero of Iolcus in Thessaly, who set sail on the Argo to Colchis on the eastern coast of the Black Sea in search of the Golden Fleece, and their return. The poem is loosely structured overall, but is full of beautiful anecdotes, auspicious tales, and geographical descriptions. The psychological description of Medea, the princess of Colchis, who was passionately in love with Jason, is particularly famous, and some passages of the story served as a model for the love story between Queen Dido and Aeneas in Virgil's Aeneid.

ギリシアの詩人ロドスのアポロニオスの英雄叙事詩。4巻。テッサリアのイオルコスの英雄イアソンを首領とする 50人の勇士がアルゴ船に乗って黒海東岸のコルキスにおもむき，金毛羊皮を捜し求めて帰国するまでの物語。詩は全体としては構成に緊密さを欠くが，美しい挿話や縁起物語や地誌的記述に満ちている。コルキスの王女メデイアのイアソンに対する激しい恋の心理描写は特に名高く，ウェルギリウス『アエネイス』中の女王ディドとアエネアスとの恋物語の手本となった節もある。
