Sanage Shrine - Sanage Shrine

Japanese:
Sanage Shrine - Sanage Shrine
The main shrine is located in Sanage-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. It is a shrine listed in the Shikinaisha (Engishikisha). It is one of the three shrines in Mikawa Province and the largest shrine in west Mikawa. It was a former prefectural shrine, and in 1946 it was decided to be promoted to a national minor shrine, but this did not happen. The main deity is currently Oousu-no-mikoto, with Emperors Suinin and Keikō as secondary enshrines, but this is thought to have occurred at the end of the Muromachi period or the beginning of the early modern period, and in the Six National Histories it is referred to as Sanage-no-kami. It is thought that the shrine originated from faith in Mount Sanage, which straddles both Owari and Mikawa provinces, and the main shrine is located at the southern foot of the mountain, and the East and West shrines are located on the east and west sides of the mountain.
