A Jomon period shell mound in Satogi, Chatan, Funao-cho, Asakuchi-gun, Okayama Prefecture. The shell mound is made up of deposits of brackish shells and is located on the west bank of the Takahashi River, at the southern end of a hill bordering the alluvial plain. It was excavated twice by Seino Kenji in 1919 and 1922. Satogi II type pottery from the middle Jomon period was discovered in the upper layer of the site, and Satogi I type pottery from the end of the Early Jomon period was discovered in the lower layer. In addition to Jomon human bones and crescent-shaped earrings, stone tools such as stone arrowheads, stone awls, stone spoons, chipped stone axes, and ground stone axes have also been excavated. 岡山県浅口郡船穂町大字船穂字北谷,里木にある縄文時代の貝塚。貝塚には鹹水(かんすい)性の貝が堆積し,高梁(たかはし)川の西岸,沖積平野に接する丘陵南端部に位置している。1919年と22年の2回にわたって清野謙次が発掘。遺跡上層から縄文時代中期の里木II式土器が発見され,下層から縄文時代前期末の里木I式土器が発見された。縄文人骨や玦状(けつじよう)耳飾のほか,石鏃・石錐・石匙(いしさじ)・打製石斧・磨製石斧などの石器類も出土している。
