〘 noun 〙① When there are many buyers or construction contractors, each is asked to submit a paper with a price estimate written on it, and the buyer or contractor is selected based on the results. Also, the paper on which the estimated prices are written. Nyusatsu. Auction. Seriuri. ※Keicho Kenbunshu (1614) 3 "One hundred or two hundred ryo are piled up, and everyone submits bids, and these are purchased." ② In the Edo period, a form on which people wrote their names and voted when selecting village officials, head priests, etc. Also, the act of voting in general. [Shogenjiko Setsuyoshu (1717)] ③ In a tanomoshi (= mujin) ceremony, when deciding who would collect from the second round onwards, each person is asked to write down the amount they would like to collect, and the one who wrote the lowest amount is selected. A method mainly used in the Kansai region. にゅう‐さつ ニフ‥【入札】

〘名〙① 工事の請負や物品の売買・貸借などに関して、最も有利な条件を示す者と契約を結ぶため、多数の競争者に見積価額を書いた紙を提出させ、その結果を見て相手を決めること。また、その見積価額を書いた用紙。いれふだ。※俳諧・玉海集(1656)附句「神仏さへ入札になる〈近政〉 おさあひのまもり袋を拵へて〈同〉」② 役員などを選挙するとき、名前を記す札。また、それによって人を選挙すること。いれふだ。※西洋事情(1866‐70)〈福沢諭吉〉初「入札の法撰挙人各其意に従て大統領とし或は副統領とせんと欲する者姓名を札子に記るして箱に投し終て之を開き」
