Of the independent countries currently existing in the world, over 110 countries have a date equivalent to National Foundation Day. Some of these countries have not been able to decide on a single National Foundation Day, but looking at the details of each country's National Foundation Day, more than two-thirds of them are independence anniversaries of former colonies, followed by Republic Foundation Day and Revolution Day. All of these are days commemorating the national liberation of their people or the founding of the country as a modern or socialist state, and the only National Foundation Days based on ancient founding legends are Korea's Foundation Day (October 3rd) and Japan's National Foundation Day.
