A powerful clan based in Minamimata, Nejimein, Osumi Province (present-day Nejime, Sata, and Tashiro-cho, Kimotsuki County, Kagoshima Prefecture) since the Heian period. (1) A member of the Nene clan (family name Takebe). They bear the name of Sata as their territory. The founder Yoritaka was the younger brother of Nene Yorikiyo, and the name was passed down to Chikakiyo, Chikataka, Chikatsuna, and Chikaharu. Takebe Takakiyo, who appears in the Osumi Province Map of Fields for 1197 (8th Kenkyu) as the lord of 10 cho of Sata (Ta) land of Shohachiman Shrine, is thought to be Chikakiyo. Sata Shindayu Takakiyo was a resident official and was one of the 14 kokugata (local officials) of Osumi Province who were appointed as vassals the following year.
