Sha-jing Ruins (English name)

Japanese: 沙井遺跡 - しゃせいいせき（英語表記）Sha-jing

This site is located about 18km west of Minqin County, Gansu Province, China. Excavation was carried out by Swedish archaeologist J. Andersson in August 1924. The site consists of three periods: a prehistoric dwelling site, a cemetery, a brick building from the Han dynasty, and a watchtower from the Song dynasty. The dwelling site is located on a hill called Liufutun, and is surrounded by a circular defensive wall about 50m in diameter. In addition to Shajing period pottery, bronze knives, bone tools, and gold wire have been excavated. The cemetery is located about 260m west of Liufutun, and pottery, jade tools, and bronze tools have been excavated from it, dating to roughly the same period as the dwelling site. Anderson named these sites the Shajing period and thought them to be from the Bronze Age, but they are said to date to the Eastern Zhou period of the Central Plains.

中国甘粛省民勤県の西方約 18kmにある遺跡。 1924年8月にスウェーデンの考古学者 J.アンダーソンによって発掘調査が行われた。遺跡は先史時代の住居址，墓地，漢代の塼築建造物，宋代の見張り台の3時期から成る。住居址は六府屯と呼ばれる丘上にあり，径約 50mの円形をなす防壁がめぐり，沙井期の土器のほか，青銅刀子，骨器，金線などが出土した。墓地は六府屯の西方約 260mにあり，土器，玉器，青銅器が出土し，住居址とほぼ同時代である。これらの遺跡はアンダーソンによって沙井期と名づけられ，青銅器時代と考えられたが，年代は中原の東周時代に相当するとされている。
