Novelist. Born in Tokyo. Real name Nobuyasu. After graduating from the upper elementary school, he worked in a variety of jobs. Eventually he discovered Osugi Sakae through the magazine Modern Thought, and became interested in anarchism and syndicalism in the labor movement. In 1916 (Taisho 5), he published his debut work, The Miner, which became a pioneering work in labor literature in the Taisho period. He then began writing in earnest, but later became a Buddhist priest due to ideological anguish, and passed away in Kyoto in 1951. In addition to his collection of essays, Literature of the Fourth Estate (1922), and his autobiography, Wanderings (1953), he also wrote many works related to Buddhism.
