Mr. Saji - Sajiuji

Japanese: 佐治氏 - さじうじ

A samurai family from the late Middle Ages. According to the Taiheiki, during the Kenmu era (1334-38), a certain Saji Magosaburo lived in Tanba, and his main residence was probably in Saji, Hikami District (present-day Aogaki Town, Hikami District, Hyogo Prefecture). Around the time of the Kan'o Disturbance during the Nanboku-cho period, Takanobu's family member, Michiaki, was appointed as the shugo of Tanba and Tango, and it is believed that a vassal relationship between the Saji clan and the Taka clan was established, and thereafter the Saji clan acted as an inner circle of the Taka clan. In January 1404 (Oei 11), when Takanobu Morinao was appointed as the shugo of Yamashiro, Saji Morinao was appointed as his deputy shugo, and until the 11th year of the same year, he was in charge of the administration and transfer of the various manors within Yamashiro.

中世後期の武家。《太平記》によれば建武年間(1334‐38)に佐治孫三郎某が丹波に住したとあり，おそらくその本貫地は氷上郡佐治(現，兵庫県氷上郡青垣町)と考えられる。南北朝時代の観応の擾乱（じようらん）のころ，高師直の一族，師詮が丹波･丹後の守護に就任し，佐治氏と高氏との被官関係が成立したと推定され，以後佐治氏は高氏の内衆として活動する。1404年(応永11)1月，高師英が山城守護に就任すると，佐治守直はその守護代に登用され，11年まで山城国内各荘園の遵行･打渡しに当たっている。
