Japanese: 鷺ノ湯[温泉] - さぎのゆ

Located in Yasugi City in eastern Shimane Prefecture, this hot spring is located on the west bank of the Inashi River, which flows into Lake Nakaumi. It is a saline gypsum spring with a temperature of 50-60°C. It is about 8km southwest of Yasugi Station on the Sanin Main Line and is easily accessible by bus. It has been open since ancient times, and during the Sengoku period it was used as a palace bath by the Amago clan, and is said to have been frequented by courtesans. It stopped flowing after a major flood in 1666 (Kanbun 6), but was revived in 1909. It is currently a quiet hot spring with several inns, and has been designated a national hot spring. 島根県東部，安来（やすぎ）市にあり，中海（なかうみ）に注ぐ飯梨川の西岸に位置する温泉。含食塩セッコウ泉，50～60℃。山陰本線安来駅の南西約8kmにあり，バスの便がある。古くから開け，戦国時代には尼子氏の御殿湯とされて遊女もいたという。1666年(寛文6)の大洪水で湧出が止まったが，1909年によみがえった。現在は数軒の旅館がある静かな温泉で，国民温泉に指定されている。【谷沢明】
