A diary by Matsuo Basho in the early Edo period. One volume. Published in 1753 (the third year of the Horeki era). It was written during his stay at Mukai Kyorai's villa Rakushisha in Saga, Kyoto, from April 18 to May 4, 1691 (the fourth year of the Genroku era) , and is Basho's only diary. Conceived as a literary work, it describes his life at Rakushisha, his impressions, and his interactions with his disciples, using a mixture of hokku, renku, and Chinese poetry. 江戸前期、松尾芭蕉の日記。一編。宝暦三年(一七五三)刊。元祿四年(一六九一)四月一八日から五月四日の間、京都嵯峨にある向井去来の別荘落柿舎(らくししゃ)に滞在中つづった日記で、芭蕉の日記としては唯一のもの。文学作品としての構想のもとに、落柿舎での生活、感想、門人たちとの交渉などを発句、連句、漢詩などをまじえながら記述する。
