A general term for birds in the Bucerotidae family of the order Coraciiformes, or one of these species. All species in the Bucerotidae family have large beaks, and most species have a large, prominent appendage at the top of the upper beak. Both the Japanese and English names refer to the unusual shape of the beak, which resembles a rhinoceros horn. They have long tail feathers. There are about 25 species in the African continent, and about 20 species distributed from India to Southeast Asia, the Malay Archipelago, and New Guinea. Total length is 38 to 125 cm.
