A former town in Yufutsu District, Hokkaido. Located at the intersection of the Muroran Main Line and the Sekisho Line, it has many railway workers. It produces melons, asparagus, and other produce. It is covered with volcanic ash. In March 2006, it merged with Hayakita Town in Yufutsu District to become Abira Town in Yufutsu District. Area: 82.52 km2 . Population: 4,110 (2003).
