A former town in Yufutsu District, Hokkaido. Located at the intersection of the Muroran Main Line and the Sekisho Line, it has many railway workers. It produces melons, asparagus, and other produce. It is covered with volcanic ash. In March 2006, it merged with Hayakita Town in Yufutsu District to become Abira Town in Yufutsu District. Area: 82.52 km2 . Population: 4,110 (2003). 北海道勇払(ゆうふつ)郡の旧町。室蘭本線と石勝線の交点で,鉄道関係従業者が多い。メロン,アスパラガスなどを産する。火山灰地が広い。2006年3月,勇払郡早来町と合併し町制,勇払郡安平町となる。82.52km2。4110人(2003)。
