National Restoration Party

Japanese: 国維会 - こくいかい

Founded in January 1932 by Yasuoka Masaatsu of Kinkei Academy and other aristocrats, bureaucrats and military personnel such as Konoe Fumimaro, Yoshida Shigeru (Home Ministry bureaucrat), Goto Fumio, Sakai Tadamasa, Okada Nagakage, Matsumoto Manabu and Araki Sadao, this group aims to reform national politics with the "Japanese spirit." The group considered the situation after the Manchurian Incident to be "the recent internal and external troubles in our country are so serious that they are almost unprecedented in history," and aimed to rally together talented people and establish a plan to reform national politics in order to overcome them. Goto became Minister of Agriculture in the Saito Makoto cabinet and led the movement to revive the rural economy, and members such as Goto and Kawada Issei joined the cabinet of the next Okada Keisuke cabinet.

1932年1月金鶏学院の安岡正篤が中心となり，近衛文麿，吉田茂(内務官僚)，後藤文夫，酒井忠正，岡部長景，松本学，荒木貞夫らの華族･官僚･軍人を発起人として設立された〈日本精神〉による国政革新をめざす団体。満州事変後の情勢を〈我国近来の内憂外患は其の重大深刻なる殆ど有史以来未曾有〉ととらえ，その打開のため，人材の糾合と国政革新計画の樹立をめざした。斎藤実内閣の農相に後藤がなり，農山漁村経済更生運動を指導したのをはじめ，次の岡田啓介内閣でも後藤，河田烈らの会員が入閣。
