Manchuria Heavy Industry Development Co., Ltd.

Japanese: 満州重工業開発株式会社 - まんしゅうじゅうこうぎょうかいはつかぶしきかいしゃ
Manchuria Heavy Industry Development Co., Ltd.
A national policy company established as a "Manchukuo" corporation to implement the "Manchuria Industrial Development Five-Year Plan." Abbreviated as Mangyō. Its predecessor was Nihon Sangyo Co., Ltd. (Nissan), the headquarters of the emerging conglomerate Nissan Konzern. The "Manchukuo" government and Kwantung Army, which had drawn up the "Manchuria Industrial Development Five-Year Plan," asked Nissan Konzern to advance into Manchuria as the implementation agency, and in 1937, Nihon Sangyo, the headquarters, was reorganized and renamed Manchuria Heavy Industry Development. After that, Mangyō took over the shares of special companies owned by the "Manchukuo" government and the South Manchuria Railway (Mantetsu), while by around 1941, in developing Manchuria's resources and industry, it had formed the largest conglomerate at the time, with 31 companies in Manchuria and 63 in Japan, with a total paid-in capital of 2.264 billion yen.
