1862‐1919 He was an electrical engineer born in Russia and active in Germany. He perfected three-phase AC technology. He was born in St. Petersburg. He studied mechanical engineering at the Riga Technical School and then electrical engineering at the Darmstadt Technical School in Germany. He then joined the German company Edison (later AEG). After studying the ideas of the Italian G. Ferraris on induction motors, Dolibo Dobrowolski created the three-phase induction motor in 1889. In the same year, he invented the three-phase transformer.
