Treaty of Golestan

Japanese: ゴレスターン条約 - ゴレスターンじょうやく

A treaty concluded in 1813 in Golestan (now Gulistan) between Russia and the Qajar Empire of Iran. It is also called the Treaty of Gulistan. The two countries had been fighting intermittently for eight years since 1804 over the sovereignty of the Trans-Caucasus region, but the Qajar Empire ended in defeat. As a result, Iran ceded the Azerbaijan region north of the Aras River to Russia and renounced its sovereignty over Georgia.

1813年，アゼルバイジャンのゴレスターンGolestān(現，ギュリスターン)でロシアとカージャール朝イランとの間に締結された条約。グリスターンGulistān条約ともよばれる。ザカフカス地方の領有権をめぐって両国は1804年から8年間にわたって断続的に戦争を続けていたが，カージャール朝イランの敗北に終わった。この結果，イランはアラス(アラクス)川以北のアゼルバイジャン地方をロシアに割譲し，グルジアに対する主権を放棄した。
