Goldwyn - Samuel Goldwyn

Japanese: ゴールドウィン - ごーるどうぃん(英語表記)Samuel Goldwyn
Goldwyn - Samuel Goldwyn

One of the leading filmmakers in Hollywood from the 1920s to the 1950s. His real name was Shmuel Gelbfisz. He was born in Warsaw and moved to the United States at the age of 13. In 1913, he started filmmaking with his brother-in-law Jesse Louis Lasky (1880-1958), and in 1923, he founded Samuel Goldwyn Productions. He began making his own unique films, hand-crafting each one with care, striving for high quality. Many of his students were stars, including Ronald Coleman, Gary Cooper, and Merle Oberon (1911-1979), and he often worked with directors such as John Ford and William Wyler. He also produced many literary works, such as "Mrs. Peacock" (1936), "Dead End" (1937), and "The False Garden" (1941). In 1947, his film "The Best Years of Our Lives" (1946) won seven major Academy Awards, including Best Picture. He also received the Irving Thalberg Memorial Award. Other notable works include "Stella Dallas" (1925), "The Man Who Was a Warrior" (1932), "Wuthering Heights" (1939), and "The Man Who Was a Warrior" (1947).
