Lake Usoriyama

Japanese: 宇曾利山湖 - うそりやまこ

Lake Osorezan is a crater lake (caldera lake) of Mount Osore, located in the center of the Shimokita Peninsula in northern Aomori Prefecture. It has an area of 2.52 ^km2 , a circumference of 12.5 km, and a maximum depth of 54 m. The water is blue-green and highly acidic, and the only fish to live in it are the Japanese dace. There are many hot springs and sulfur vents on the north shore, as well as the sacred site of Mount Osore Bodaiji Temple. It is part of the Shimokita Peninsula Quasi-National Park.

恐山湖ともいう。青森県北部，下北半島の中央部を占める恐山の火口湖 (カルデラ湖) 。面積 2.52km²，周囲 12.5km，最大水深 54m。水の色は青緑色を呈し，強い酸性で，魚はわずかにウグイがいるにすぎない。北岸に多くの温泉，硫気孔があるほか，恐山菩提寺の霊場がある。下北半島国定公園に属している。
