Mr. Kobori

Japanese: 小堀氏 - こぼりうじ
Mr. Kobori
A feudal lord in the early modern period. He was born in Kobori Village, Omisaka County (present-day Nagahama City) during the Sengoku period. After the downfall of the Azai clan, Masatsugu served Hashiba (Toyotomi) Hidenaga, and after his death, he served Hideyoshi and was granted 5,000 koku in Yamato and Izumi. He was on the eastern side of the army at the Battle of Sekigahara and was granted an additional 10,000 koku in Bitchu. His son Masakazu (Enshu) inherited the estate in 1604 (Keicho 9), and was later transferred to Omi, where he served as the provincial magistrate of Bitchu and Omi, as well as the magistrate of Fushimi. He was also known as the founder of the Enshu school of tea ceremony, and showed his skill in gardening as the magistrate of construction. After that, he ruled over Komuro in Omi for generations, but in 1788 (Tenmei 8), during the reign of Masakata, he was accused of mismanagement as the magistrate of Fushimi and was stripped of his title.
