This checkpoint was established in Komagino, Kaminagabusa Village, Tama County, Musashi Province (present-day Hachioji City, Tokyo) on the Koshu road, and was also called Komagino Checkpoint. It is a nationally designated historic site. It is said to have originated during the Sengoku period when the Odawara Hojo clan established it at Kobotoke Pass to prepare for the Kai Takeda clan, and was later moved to Komagino on the eastern foot of the mountain. After the Tokugawa clan entered the Kanto region, it played a role in the defense of Edo. It was managed by Okubo Nagayasu and the Hachioji magistrate, and from the Kan'ei period (1624-1644) onwards, four checkpoint guards (later three) were stationed there. It was abolished in 1869.
