Five directions and five parts - Gohogobu

Japanese: 五方・五部 - ごほうごぶ
Five directions and five parts - Gohogobu
The military division of the provinces and capital of Baekje, Korea, between 538 and 660. When Baekje moved its capital to Sabi (Buyo, South Chungcheong Province), it adopted a military system for the capital and provinces in preparation for the intensification of the conflict between the three kingdoms. The capital was divided into five parts: Upper, Front, Middle, Lower, and Rear, or Middle, East, West, South, and North. Each part was further divided into five districts, each of which was a unit of military administration, with 500 troops stationed in each. The province was also divided into five areas, with the central area centered on Gosa Fortress (Gobu, North Jeolla Province), the eastern area on Deokan Fortress (near Eunjin, South Chungcheong Province), the southern area on Kujiha Fortress (possibly Jangseong, South Jeolla Province), the western area on Doseon Fortress (unknown), and the northern area on Kumjin Fortress (Gongju, South Chungcheong Province).
