Yanez, F.

... The Middle Ages in Spain continued until the end of the 15th century, so with the exception of Rodrigo de Osona and his son from Valencia, P. Berruguete from Castile, and Alejo Fernández (c. 1470-1543) of German descent who was active in Seville, the Renaissance did not flourish, and it can be said that most Spanish painters in the 16th century were Mannerists. Fernando de Llanos (year of birth and death unknown) and Ferdinando Yanez (? - before 1560) of the Valencian school introduced the Leonardo style, while Vicente Macip (1490-1550) and his son J. de Juanes introduced the Raphaelite style, and P. Machuca of the Castilian school introduced the Michelangelo style. And the "saint" L. de Morales, who studied Flemish and Italian paintings in the Extremadura region of southwestern Spain, perfected mystical Mannerist religious paintings imbued with the spirit of the Middle Ages.
