Aggregate - Aggregate

Materials such as sand, gravel, and crushed stone that are mixed when making mortar or concrete. Although it is a type of bulking agent, it accounts for as much as 70-80% of concrete, so the properties of the aggregate determine the properties of the mortar and concrete. There are many different types of aggregates used. Ordinary aggregates have a specific gravity of about 2.5-2.7 and are used in general concrete. Lightweight aggregates are aggregates for lightweight concrete, with a specific gravity of 2.0 or less and are available in both natural and artificial varieties. Heavy aggregates are heavy aggregates with a specific gravity of 2.8 or more used for radiation shielding.

モルタルまたはコンクリートをつくるとき混合する砂、砂利、砕石などの材料。増量材の一種であるが、コンクリート中に占める割合が70～80％にも達するので、骨材の性質がモルタル、コンクリートの性質を左右する。使用される骨材の種類は多岐にわたっている。普通骨材は一般コンクリートに用いられる比重が2.5～2.7程度のものである。軽量骨材は軽量コンクリート用骨材で、比重が2.0以下で天然のものと人工のものとがある。重量骨材は放射線遮蔽(しゃへい)用の比重2.8以上の重い骨材である。
