National Day - Guo-qing-jie

The founding day of the People's Republic of China is a national holiday. October 1st. The ceremony to mark the founding of the People's Republic of China was held on October 1st, 1949, in front of Tiananmen Square in Beijing, where the May Fourth Movement demonstrations were held, with about 300,000 people gathering. Since Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed that "the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was established here today," this day has been celebrated as National Day every year. However, in 1971, no celebration was held at Tiananmen Square because Lin Biao, who was designated as Mao's successor, was ousted. In addition, the Nationalist government of Taiwan commemorates the outbreak of the revolution to overthrow the Qing Dynasty in Wuchang on October 10th, 1911, and has designated October 10th as the national holiday to mark the founding day of the Republic of China, and celebrates it as National Day or Double Tenth Day. This day is also called the "Xinhai Revolution Memorial Day."

中華人民共和国の建国記念日で国祭日。 10月1日。中華人民共和国成立の式典が，1949年 10月1日，五・四運動の示威が行われた北京の天安門前広場に約 30万の民衆を集めて催され，毛沢東主席が「中華人民共和国中央人民政府は本日ここに成立した」と宣言して以来，毎年この日を国慶節として祝っている。しかし 71年の国慶節は毛沢東の後継者と定められた林彪が失脚したため，天安門前広場での祝賀式典は行われなかった。なお，台湾の国民政府では 11年 10月 10日の武昌における清朝打倒の革命勃発を記念し，中華民国建国記念日として毎年 10月 10日を国祭日に定め，国慶節あるいは双十節として祝っており，この日を「辛亥革命記念日」とも呼んでいる。
