Local summons - Local summons

Japanese:
Local summons - Local summons
During the Edo period, the Shogun or feudal lord would take away the local fiefs of their vassals and convert them into storehouse rice fiefs. This was practiced in many feudal domains from the mid-17th century onwards. The opposite was true when storehouse rice fiefs were turned into local fiefs, called chihonosasi. It was also used to punitively convert local fiefs into storehouse rice fiefs or stipends of rice to vassals. [Fujii Joji]
