An airport where international flights depart and arrive. In the narrow sense, it refers to an airport regulated by the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention). In Japan, the hub airports Narita International Airport, Kansai International Airport, Chubu Centrair International Airport, and Tokyo International Airport are examples. In addition, there are regional airports where international scheduled flights depart and arrive, mainly to Seoul, and these are also usually called international airports. International airports must have facilities for immigration procedures, customs, and quarantine procedures, and many also have duty-free shops and currency exchange offices.
