Echizen Coast

Japanese: 越前海岸 - えちぜんかいがん

Located in the north-central part of Fukui Prefecture, this coast faces the Sea of Japan, centered on Cape Echizen. It stretches from Hoshiizaki in Echizen Town in the south to Kamejima in Fukui City in the north. The coastal terraces are caused by uplift, and the rocky coastline caused by marine erosion is a distinctive feature. The Nyu Mountains come close to the coast. The area is famous for the taste of sea urchins and crabs, and for the daffodils that bloom along the coast. It belongs to the Echizen-Kaga Coast Quasi-National Park. National Route 305 runs along the coast.

福井県中北部，越前岬を中心に日本海に面する海岸。南は越前町の干飯崎，北は福井市亀島付近まで広がる。隆起による海岸段丘の地形で，海食による岩石海岸の風景が特色。丹生山地が海岸付近まで迫る。ウニ，カニの味覚と，海岸に咲くスイセンで有名。越前加賀海岸国定公園に属する。海岸沿いを国道 305号線が走る。
