Yong-ji-qu; Yung-chi-ch`ü

Part of the Grand Canal of the Sui Dynasty in China. In 608, the fourth year of Daye, the river channel connecting the Qin River and the Huang River, and downstream through the Wei River to the area of present-day Tianjin, was renovated, and the Grand Canal was formed by combining the Tongji Canal, Hangou Canal, Jiangnan River, and Guangtong Canal to the south and the capital. It played an important role in transporting grain, cloth, and military supplies from Jiangnan to the northeastern border, making it possible for the Sui Dynasty to invade Goguryeo. It was used as part of the Grand Canal connecting Henan and Hebei until the early modern period, and is also called the Wei River, Yuhe Canal, and Nan Canal.

中国，隋の大運河の一部。大業4（608）年，沁水とホワン（黄）河を結び下流のウェイ（衛）河を通じて今日の天津方面に達する河道を改修，南方の通済渠，邗溝，江南河および首都へ結ぶ広通渠と合わせて大運河となる。江南の穀物や布および軍需物資を東北国境に運ぶのに重要な役割を果たし，隋の高句麗遠征を可能とした。のち近世にいたるまで河南と河北を結ぶ大運河の一部として活用され，衛河，御河，南運河とも呼ばれる。
