The Australian wool auction price, which is determined by auction at each wool distributing market in Australia, serves as a global benchmark for wool trading. Wool in Australia is distributed as follows: farm → seller → auction market → shipping company. Wool is sheared on the farm once a year in the spring, after which it is cleared of trash, grass, nuts, etc., and is sorted by quality before being brought to the seller. The seller displays samples by the morning of the scheduled auction day, so buyers can check them out in advance and decide whether or not to purchase.
