Koumi [town] - Koumi
A town in Minamisaku District, eastern Nagano Prefecture. It occupies the upper reaches of the Chikuma River, and the Koumi Line runs through it. As it is a highland, cold region, highland vegetables are cultivated, and flowers (persimmons) and mushrooms are also produced, and livestock is also raised. The western part of the town belongs to the Yatsugatake Chushin Highlands Quasi-National Park, and Lake Matsubara is located in the southern part. Area: 114.20 km2 . Population: 5,180 (2010).
