A town in Kishima County in central Saga Prefecture. Located in the lower reaches of the Rokkaku River, it is a rice-growing region. Yamaguchi, in the center, is the junction of the Nagasaki Main Line and the Sasebo Line. The Shin-Kishima coal mine, which was part of the Kishima coalfield, was located here, but it closed in 1969. Instead, the town has been bustling with the establishment of factories and mandarin orange orchards. Area: 24.49 km2 . Population: 9,515 (2010).
