〘Noun〙 In the Heian period, a ceremony held every August 11th at the Imperial Court to evaluate and report on the performance of government officials' behavior and working conditions. → Kojo (Jojo). *Sakoki - August 11th, 1017, "Today is one of the most special days of the year, and I am now entering into the Jojo period." [Additional notes] The order of "Jo" and "Kojo" is reversed to read "Kojo," but the example from "Sakoki" is given here for convenience. It is said that the pronunciation is similar to "Retired Emperor," so reading it in order should be avoided. In "Sokosho-5," it says, "Regarding Jojo (Kouchou) (abbreviation) : These people were selected and selected, and it is called Jojo. However, although the characters say Jojo, it is written as Kojo, but when it is written, it is read as Kocho. This is also an oral tradition. It is a very historical thing."
