A female revolutionary in the early days of the Chinese Communist Party. Her husband was Cai Hesen, a Communist Party official. She was born in Qinpu, Hunan Province. Influenced by Mao Zedong's ideology, she went to France to study and work, searching for ways to liberate China from imperialism and warlords. After returning to China, she joined the Communist Party of China and became head of the party's Central Women's Department. She then studied in Moscow before returning to China in 1927.
