Xingjiao Temple (English name)

Japanese: 興教寺 - こうきょうじ（英語表記）Xīng jìao sì

A Buddhist temple located 70km south of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. Located near the Fan River on a hill overlooking Mount Zhongnan, it is known for the tomb tower of Tripitaka master Xuanzang, with three brick towers facing each other: the tomb tower of his disciple Master Ci'en Qi'ji and the tomb tower of Master Ensek Fang. After his death, Xuanzang was buried east of the Hushui River, but five years later in 669 (General Chapter 2), he was reburied in Shaolingyuan, which is said to be the beginning of the temple. After repairs in 828-829 (Taihe 2-3), the tomb tower of Xuanzang that stands today is a five-story brick tower with a square plan and a height of 21m.

中国，陝西省西安市の南郊70kmにある仏寺。樊（はん）川の近くで，終南山を眺望する高台に位置し，玄奘（げんじよう）三蔵の墓塔を中央に，その弟子の慈恩大師窺基の慈恩塔，円測法師の円測塔の3塼塔（せんとう）が向かいあって立つことで知られる。玄奘は没後，滻水（さんすい）の東に葬られたが，5年後の669年(総章2)に少陵原に改葬されたのが寺の始まりとされる。828‐829年(太和2‐3)の修理をへて今日ある玄奘墓塔は方形平面，高さ21mの塼造の五層の楼閣式。
