Year of death: March 22, 1604 (April 21, 1604) Year of birth: Tenbun 9 (1540) A military commander during the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods. Born in Nakamura, Owari, he served Toyotomi Hideyoshi due to their shared hometown. His wife was the younger sister of Hideyoshi's birth mother, Omandokoro (Tenzuiin), so they were related by blood. He was commonly known as Jinzaemon, and later called himself Harima no Kami. In 1582, he was ordered to serve as caretaker of Himeji Castle in Harima, and in the 13th year of the same year, he was given 30,000 koku of land for Kishiwada Castle in Izumi. During the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, he and his eldest son Yoshimasa served as caretakers on the side of Ishida Mitsunari on the Western side, but they did not take part in the battle at Sekigahara, and instead assisted Hideyori from Osaka Castle. His second son Hideie belonged to the Eastern side, and as he distinguished himself in battle, he was granted permission to keep his former territory, and later served Ieyasu.
