Also simply called enamel. Varnish is mixed with pigment and kneaded. Room temperature drying enamel dries in 30 minutes to 12 hours, significantly faster than oil-based paint. The coating is smooth, glossy, and hard. Baking enamel dries slowly in the air, but must be heated to 80-180°C to harden and dry. The coating is hard and has good adhesion. Widely used for painting woodwork, metal products, etc. As it is mainly made from natural ingredients, it is being reconsidered as a paint with less impact on the environment.

単にエナメルとも。ワニスに顔料を加え練ったもの。常温乾燥用エナメルは30分〜12時間で乾燥し，油性ペイントに比べ著しく速い。塗膜は平滑で光沢に富み堅い。焼付け用エナメルは大気中では乾燥がおそく，80〜180℃に加熱して硬化乾燥する。塗膜は堅く，密着性大。木工品，金属製品などの塗装に広く利用。天然原料が主であることから環境負荷の少ない塗料として見直されている。
