Vascular murmur

Japanese: 血管雑音 - けっかんざつおん（英語表記）vascular murmur

A vascular murmur caused by an increase in blood flow velocity, a decrease in blood viscosity, or atherosclerosis of the vascular wall. It occurs in aneurysms and arteriovenous fistulas, but can also occur in normal cases when an artery is strongly compressed. The murmur of an aneurysm is a soft, short systolic murmur. In contrast, the murmur of an arteriovenous fistula is louder, can be heard throughout the cardiac cycle, and becomes louder in line with systole; it is called a mechanical murmur. Sometimes, even arteriovenous fistulas can be significantly louder during systole, sounding like a purely systolic murmur.

血流速度の増大，血液粘性の減少，血管壁の粥（かゆ）状硬化などによって生ずる血管の雑音。動脈瘤（りゆう），動静脈瘻（ろう）などで発生するが，正常でも動脈を強く圧迫すると発生する。動脈瘤の雑音は収縮期雑音で軟らかく短い。これに対して動静脈瘻の雑音は，より強く，心臓周期全体にわたって聴取され，収縮期に一致して強くなり，機械性雑音machinery bruitとよばれている。ときに，動静脈瘻でも収縮期に著しく亢進し，純粋に収縮期の雑音のように聴かれることがある。
