Kong Yingda - The Man
A Chinese scholar from the late Sui and early Tang dynasties. His pen name was Zhongda, and he was from Hengshui, Hebei Province. He was intelligent from an early age, and his studies covered both the northern and southern schools of thought, as well as arithmetic and calendar theory. He was ordered by Emperor Taizong of the Tang dynasty to select the Five Classics of Literature, making a major contribution to the interpretation of Chinese classics, and he also compiled the History of Sui with Yan Shigu and others.

中国，隋末唐初の学者。〈こうえいたつ〉〈くえいだつ〉とも読む。字は仲達，河北省衡水の人。幼少から聡明で，その学は南北両学派に及んだほか，算暦にも通じた。唐の太宗の命を受けて《五経正義》を撰して，中国古典解釈上大きな功績を残すとともに，顔師古らと《隋史》を編纂(へんさん)した。
