Also known as radio object or radio star. A general term for celestial bodies that emit radio waves. Originally, the term was used in the 1940s and 1950s, when it was thought that most radio wave sources were stars. Later, it was discovered that many of these radio wave sources were supernova remnants or galaxies outside the Milky Way.
