K value - K

This refers to the smoke and soot emission standards set by the Air Pollution Control Act. A coefficient set for each region and facility to regulate the amount of pollutant emissions according to the height of the exhaust port. Regulation based on this coefficient is called K -value regulation, and the smaller the K- value, the stricter the regulation. If the amount of pollutant emissions is Q (m ³ s ^-1 , 0°C, converted to 1 atm) and the height of the smoke and soot exhaust port is H _e (m), then for sulfur oxides,

Q ₌ K ^{× 10-3} He2

In cases where factories and business establishments are concentrated and it is difficult to regulate emissions at each facility ( K value regulation), total quantity regulation is implemented.

大気汚染防止法によるばい煙排出基準をいう．汚染物質の排出量を排出口の高さに応じて規制するように，地域および施設ごとに定められた係数．この係数による規制はK値規制とよばれ，K値が小さいほど厳しくなる．汚染物質の排出量をQ(m³ s^－1，0 ℃，1 atm 換算)とし，ばい煙排出口の高さを H_e(m)とした場合，硫黄酸化物では

となる．工場や事業所が集積して，施設ごとの排出規制(K値規制)が困難な場合には総量規制を行う．
