A British island group located in the western West Indies, south of Cuba. Also known as the Cayman Islands. It consists of three islands: Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac. Columbus arrived there in 1503, and it became a British territory in 1670. The main industry is tourism, but there are also many foreign corporations registered there, and it has attracted attention as an international financial trading center. The capital is George Town (approximately 20,600 people). ^{259 km2} . Population: 53,886 (2007).
