Kabuki. Historical piece. Three acts. Said to be the work of Nakamura Shichisaburo. First performed in 1698 at the Kyoto Sounza Theatre. The piece was written in anticipation of the public exhibition of the Fugen Bodhisattva of Mount Asama in Shinshu, held in Higashiyama, Kyoto, and is set against the backdrop of the family feud within the Suwa clan, with the dramatization centering on Ozasa Tomoe's purchase of courtesans. It has had a great influence on later generations, including becoming the basis for the Kabuki play "Asamamono."
