Economic Stabilization Headquarters

An administrative agency established in 1946 (Showa 21) for the purpose of economic recovery after World War II. It was responsible for the development of comprehensive economic policy, focusing on economic control, such as planning and integrating and coordinating the work of each agency, for emergency economic measures related to the production and distribution of goods, labor, prices, finance, etc. It was abolished in July 1977 as control policies were relaxed, and its work was taken over by the Economic Deliberation Agency, which was established in August 1977. The Agency later became the Economic Planning Agency in 1980, and in 2001 (Heisei 13) the same agency became the Cabinet Office due to the reorganization and integration of central government ministries and agencies.

第二次世界大戦後の経済復興のために、1946年（昭和21）に設けられた行政機関。物資の生産・配給および労務、物価、金融等に関する経済の緊急施策につき、企画立案、各庁事務の統合調整など経済統制を中心に総合的な経済政策の展開を担った。統制政策の緩和とともに52年7月廃止され、その事務は52年8月に発足した経済審議庁に受け継がれた。その後、同審議庁は55年に経済企画庁になり、さらに同庁は2001年（平成13）中央省庁の再編統合により内閣府となった。
