Widow's pension - kafunenkin

Japanese: 寡婦年金 - かふねんきん

This pension is paid to the wife when the husband of a Type 1 National Pension insured person (such as the self-employed) dies. It is paid from age 60 to age 64 to wives whose deceased husband's combined insurance premium payment period and insurance premium exemption period were at least 25 years, who were married to the wife for at least 10 years, and who were supported by the husband. The pension amount is three-quarters of the basic old-age pension amount that would have been paid if the husband was alive. If the deceased husband was eligible for a basic disability pension, or if he had received a basic old-age pension, it will not be paid. It will also not be paid if the wife is receiving an advanced basic old-age pension. In addition, it cannot be received at the same time as a lump-sum death benefit, so one must choose one or the other. (→ Survivor's pension, Old-age pension)

国民年金の第1号被保険者（自営業者など）の夫が死亡したとき，妻に対して支給される年金。死亡した夫の保険料納付期間と保険料免除期間の合計が 25年以上あり，10年以上の婚姻関係があるとともに夫に扶養されていた妻に対し，60歳から 64歳までの間支給される。年金額は夫が生存していたら支給される予定の老齢基礎年金額の 4分の3。亡くなった夫が障害基礎年金の受給権者である場合，老齢基礎年金を受けたことがある場合は支給されない。妻が繰り上げ支給の老齢基礎年金を受けている場合も支給されない。また，死亡一時金と同時に受け取れないので，どちらか一方を選ぶ。（→遺族年金，老齢年金）
