Paleo-Indian (English spelling)

...A general term for the prehistoric cultures that are interpreted as the oldest human cultures in the New World. The Paleo-Indian culture is placed in the Upper Pleistocene to the early Alluvial Epochs, and is broadly divided into the Pre-Projectile Point culture, the Projectile Point culture, and the Paleo-Arctic culture, based on differences in stone tool production techniques and associated fauna. The Pre-Projectile Point culture is characterized by crude flake stone tools and pebble tools, and is represented by the Pacaycasa culture and the Ayacucho culture in Peru, and is dated to 14,000 to 15,000 years ago.
