Crede eye drops - Crede eye drops

This is a method of instilling one drop of 1% silver nitrate into the eye after delivery to prevent neonatal gonococcal pyorrhea. It was invented in 1880 by German obstetrician-gynecologist Kredet, and has spread worldwide since it dramatically reduced the number of children suffering from blindness due to the disease. After the advent of antibiotics, antibiotic eye drops and eye ointments were used. Clinically, there is no need to implement this method if the mother is checked for gonorrhea and carefully observed for neonatal ophthalmopathy.

新生児淋菌性(りんきんせい)膿漏眼(のうろうがん)の予防のため、分娩(ぶんべん)後に1％の硝酸銀液1滴を点眼する方法をいう。1880年ドイツの産婦人科医クレーデが考案し、この疾患による失明患児数を激減させたため、全世界に普及した。抗生物質出現後は、抗生物質点眼薬・眼軟膏(なんこう)が用いられた。臨床的には母体の淋疾の有無を調べ、新生児眼症に対する慎重な観察を行えば、これを実施する必要はない。
