1685‐1768 A representative French cabinet maker, sculptor and metalworker from the Régence to the early Louis XV style. He is one of the few cabinet makers whose name appears in an 18th-century furniture catalogue. Born as the son of a sculptor in Amiens, he learned carving techniques from his father and joinery from his grandfather, a cabinet maker. He moved to Paris around 1714 and was recommended as a member of the Academie de Saint-Luca for sculptors. He then joined the workshop of Joseph Poitou, cabinet maker to Philippe, Duke of Orléans, who was a rival of AC Boulle.
