Kulmus - Johann Adam Kulmus

German anatomist. Born in Breslau (now Wrocław), he entered the University of Halle in 1711 to study medicine, then transferred to the universities of Leipzig, Strasbourg, and Basel, graduating from the University of Basel in 1719. In 1725, he became a teacher of anatomy and physics at the gymnasium in Danzig (now Gdańsk). His Anatomy Tables (Anatomy Tables), published in Danzig in 1722, was a simple work that explained about twenty or so diagrams, but it was translated into Dutch, French, and Latin and went through many editions. The third edition (published in Amsterdam) was translated into Dutch in 1732 by Gerardus Dicten (c. 1696-1770) and published as the basis for Kaitai Shinsho (New Anatomy) (1774) by Genpaku Sugita, Ryotaku Maeno, and others.
